Municipality spokesperson France Zama has confirmed that a co-ordinated cleanup operation is underway. We urge all travelers to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas until further notice.

The KZN co-operative governance and traditional affairs department has confirmed the tragic deaths and is actively working to gather further details. Teams are conducting assessments to determine the full extent of the damage.

The department has also issued a warning of level 5 disruptive rain, which may lead to localized flooding. The South African Weather Service has advised that heavy downpours could result in some areas receiving more than 200mm of rain in 24 hours.
